School Supplies for Kids in Need

Thanks to the incredible support of local businesses, community groups, and individuals, PIE Education has equipped over 27,500 students in need with school supplies since 2010.
PIE Education is a program that provides Elementary to Secondary School students with backpacks and school supplies each year. They are delivered to those in need through networks of community groups, social housing initatives and government programs.
Since 2010, PIE Ed has provided over 27,500 backpacks to students including Barrie, Simcoe County, Muskoka, Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury, Christian Island and more.
In 2024, PIE Education has expanded to pack and send out 7,500 backpacks with school supplies to meet signifcant need in communities across Ontario.
Each year PIE Wood Fired Pizza holds a Bocce Ball tournament to raise money and the Boots and Hearts Barn Burner charity hockey game also contributes toward the costs of PIE Education. Partner organizations raise money and acquire sponsorships for supplies for their respective areas.
We bring in bags and supplies in bulk, then engage volunteers to pack and sort them. Bags are organized into boxes by size, style, age groups, and end-user markets. The team laods the bags onto the trailers and trucks for delivery.

The delivery and distribution to user groups requires thorough organization and strong relationships. Upon delivery to the markets, the local organization is responsible for disbursement to local agencies that work directly with at-risk children and youth. Each organization will then take the bags and provide them to those in need.
PIE Education was founded by Craig Russell, Angela Pidutti, and Alex Nuttall in 2010. Today, it includes hundreds of donors, volunteers, and organizers. PIE Education is moving from an informal activity to a formalized not-for-profit and will become a registered charity.

Barrie, Simcoe County, Wahta Mohawk First Nation, Christian Island, Rexdale, Ottawa, Sudbury, 18 Rural communities across Ontario through Home Hardware.
